Grinding & dispersion of nano materials

Grinding: using shear force, friction force or impact force to grind the powder from large particles to small particles.

Dispersion: After the addition of solvents, additives, dispersant and/or resin, nanoparticles are completely separated, wetted uniformly and stablely.


In the process of wet dispersion, the particle size of nano powder decreases and the specific surface area increases, so it is very important to select appropriate grinding parameters, including additives, grinding media and wet grinding process.


Dispersion additives are adsorbed on the surface of nanoparticles to reduce the viscosity of the slurry. The particle size of the grinding media determines the final wet grinding particle size of the powder. In order to meet the requirements of nano-scale and avoid pollution, yttria stabilized zirconia microbeads shall be selected. The surface of the beads shall be true round and the diameter is usually 0.05-0.4mm.
